BF Goodrich / Hurst pace car replicas available now… or build your own?
So the new (and oh, so pretty) BF Goodrich/Hurst convertible Mustang Pace Car debuted at the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge race on September 19th in Colorado (hence the stunning back drop for these pictures).

We have to admit, we’re sucker for modern roll bars/light bars on convertibles, and this Mustang is no exception. Add in the gold stripes on white and that nicely shaped hood, and most of us around here are real goners…
Now Hurst is saying that they’re going to produce 50 replicas of the original for sale. The car comes with a special white convertible top and boot (and interior) as well as that gold and white paint job. Under the hood, you’ve got a Roush supercharger that bumps up the output to more than 435 horsepower. Suspension is handled by Eibach (a fellow Corona, california company to Brothers Performance)
Now comes the tricky part, the price is $36,450 OVER the cost of the base GT convertible. OUCH! That’s a lot of money from some aftermarket parts and pretty badges… Badges??? Heck, I don’t need no stinking badges! Maybe I’ll just trick out a nice white 2005-2009 GT with the some competitive Eibach coil over kit (here) and suspension pieces (here), an aftermarket supercharger by Ford Racing or even Edelbrock (here), and some of those beautiful body parts from 3D Carbon (here), or Classic Design Concepts including their beautiful lightbar (here). Heck! We even carry the Hurst Shifters (here) ! Some gold vinlyl striping and I’d pretty much be in business for FAR less… and you could be too!

We’ll get to see the original BF Goodrich / Hurst pace car this year at SEMA, and it will also tour other race tracks and car shows around the country before being auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, Arizona auction this coming January.

BFGoodrich/Hurst Mustang Makes Debut as Official Pace Car at Ford Racing Mustang Challenge
Irvine, Calif. (September 23, 2009) – Hurst Performance, a company responsible for some of the most iconic and collectible pace cars in racing history, announced today that it will build 50 limited production replicas of its supercharged BF Goodrich/Hurst 2010 Mustang Pace Car.
The original BF Goodrich/Hurst Mustang made its debut as the official pace car at the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge race on Sept. 19.
“Hurst has a unique place in the world of pace cars,” said Ron Flint, President of Hurst Performance Vehicles. “We are privileged to honor Hurst’s history and again build cars that are fun to collect and even more fun to drive.”
The stunning limited production Hurst Mustang Pace Cars feature massive 20″ Hurst polished, forged aluminum wheels with gold painted center spokes wrapped in BFGoodrich g-Force™ KDW tires for maximum performance.
The cars are distinctive, with painted gold racing stripes and official “Pace Car” logos on white. Each car has a special white convertible top, boot and interior. The exterior delivers HURST identity with subtle detailing and features including real metal badges and a unique HURST AIR-SPEED® rear deck spoiler.
The gold HURST T-handle shifter is the centerpiece of the interior for both manual and automatic cars and the seats and floor mats feature the famous Hurst gold and black “H” logos.
Handling and attitude are provided by Eibach, with Hurst-tuned coil over shocks, springs and sway bars. Under the hood, the supercharged engine pounds out 435+ horsepower and over 400 lb.-ft of torque with Magnaflow custom-tuned stainless steel performance exhaust finishing off the sound and performance statement with authority.
Each limited edition production car comes with a commemorative edition etched metal dash badge, autographed signatures from the Hurst Team in the trunk and a Certificate of Authenticity confirming its collectability and provenance. Every Hurst buyer is invited to take delivery at the Hurst Performance Center in Irvine, California to meet our team and tour the facility.
