NASCAR Mustang unveiled for 2010 - REAL PICTURES and story

After a couple months of teasing race and Mustang fans alike, Ford Racing finally revealed their 2010 mustang entry in the NASCAR National series today in Concord, North Carolina at the headquarters for Roush-Fenway racing (yes, ThAT Roush). Ford streamed the event through the Ford Racing website live at 1pm EST.

(pictures from the event and large images of the car itself after the jump!)

Brian Wolfe, Ford’s North America Motorsports boss opened up the press event and welcoming press and the local car clubs that came for the reveal talked about how the Mustang was chosen for this year’s Nascar National series.

Brian introduced Nascar Nationwide Series Director Joe Balash. Mr. Balash only talked for a few moments, but he of course talked about his excitement of having a Ford Mustang partake in the series, and generally promoted the nationwide series.

Mr. Balash then in turn introduced Edsel B. Ford II. Edsel is an entertaining speaker and talked about the history of the Mustang. Edsel recalled how his father introduced him to a pearlescent white 1964 1/2 Mustang by calling him from the dining table and taking him out to thier driveway where it was sitting.

Owner and ex-ford employee Jack Roush was up next, who admitted that he had to purchase HIS first Mustang. Mr. Roush spoke of his own extensive racing history, and some anecdotal stories of his own history with Edsel B. Ford II as well. Again, a very entertaining speaker for a car Mustang enthusiast to listen to.

Jack then signalled the #16 Nascar Mustang to enter the courtyard where they were. After the car rolled in, a Con-Way Freight executive spoke of the history of Con-Way freight and it’s support of Nascar and Racing.

Colin Braun, formerly of Nascar Truck Series and the official driver of the #16 car spoke shortly as well.
