Braking For Cancer – Mary Coffeys Drive From Buffalo NY to Burbank California For Breast Cancer Awareness

Braking for Cancer….
SSBC (Stainless Steel Brakes) has teamed up with Mary Coffey and her pink 2001 Saleen Mustang to promote
Breast Cancer Awareness and Raise money to help fund breast cancer research. Mary
will be traveling with a caravan of other supporters from Buffalo, NY to Burbank CA
making many stops along the way to tell her story and meet many Mustang and car
enthusiasts along the way.
SSBC has sponsored Mary’s tour with a complete SSBC Tri-Power brake system for the
Mustang in a custom pink color. Yes big brakes are cool but how do they support cancer
research you ask? This is the fun part! SSBC will be donating 5% of the proceeds from
every SSBC mustang product sold in the month of October to The Breast Cancer
Research Foundation!
SSBC found Mary’s journey and story a perfect fit as many family members of SSBCs’
employees are cancer survivors. With the support and drive from people like Mary we
have the advanced technology needed today. The promotion of early detection along with
today’s technology in medicine will help more people become survivors.
Mary Coffey’s inspiration comes from the loss of her husband to cancer in 2008 and the
many friends who have been diagnosed with cancer. Continue reading

New 2013 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 Design To Take Some GT500 Styling Cues

This November at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, Ford will be unveiling the redesigned 2013 Mustang. Crazy-Ford-said-what??? That’s right, loyal fans, according to insiders, there will be a pretty significant refresh of the Mustang just a year or so before the total redesign of the 50th anniversary Mustang hits the streets.
What is changing you ask? Well, for starters, the Mustang will be taking styling cues from the GT500′s front end with the larger, protruding upper grill and smaller, more rounded lower grill – AND – a redesigned rear end. Gone will be the diaper as well as the swept forward tail lights. It is as if Ford has been monitoring the forums and actually listening to enthusiasts <wink wink>. Also expect LED lights in front, possibly the lower fog lights.
Back in April, Inside Line published some spy pics of a Mustang test mule that could be wearing the new front end – it looks like a mixture of the GT500 and the Boss. Just imagine how good the 2013 Boss 302 will look with that front end…
Also reported to be coming to the 2013 Mustang is more power for the 5.0L Coyote – something rivaling the Camaro’s 426 hp rating, no doubt. What does this mean for the 2013 GT500? Well the rumors are already well established regarding the horsepower jump we can expect – somewhere in the neighborhood of 620 hp. But will it wear a new nose to help keep it different than the refreshed GTs? We will have to wait and see in November – hopefully all will be revealed. Via MustangsDaily

Hennessey Boss 302 Runs 11.9 in 1/4 Mile & 3.9 Seconds 0-60

To prove the performance potential of the mid-grade HPE650 package, Hennessey took the car to the drag strip and recorded some impressive times: zero-to-sixty mph in 3.9 seconds and a quarter mile run in 11.9 seconds at 124 mph.
To achieve those numbers, the HPE650 package includes a roots-type TVS2300 supercharger, a high-flow breathing system and Hennessey’s HPE engine-management calibration. The end result is 650 horsepower (up from 444 in the standard Boss), while the package will lighten one’s wallet to the tune of $15,995 with installation.
Hennessey is also offering a more financially-friendly starter kit, the HPE490, which raises the horsepower tally to 492 via cold-air induction, performance headers, a high-flow exhaust and the company’s engine-management calibration. Price is $3,995 if you’re brave enough to break out the tools and do it yourself, or $5,495 fully installed.
The truly power hungry should look into the HPE700, which makes a cool 700 horsepower. This range-topping package gets the same supercharger as the HPE650 with a pulley upgrade, an intercooler, a high-flow breathing system, a fuel-system upgrade, a strut tower brace and side exhaust. A $19,995 price tag gets you installation and proof that all the ponies are present and accounted for through dyno tuning.
Hennessey provides a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on the two more potent upgrades (confusingly, the HPE490 only gets 1 year/12,000 mile coverage). All the performance extras imaginable, from heavy duty clutches to carbon fiber front splitters, are available as extras.
