I got a sharp little video from our friends over at BBK down the road in Temecula yesterday. It shows a bone-stock 2010 Camaro RS V6 on their dyno. The car made 255 horsepower at the wheels (aka RWHP) (it’s advertised as 304 by Chevy (here), but that would be at the crankshaft, not at the wheels) on the dyno. For a V6, that’s not bad. The first thing BBK discovered though is that the exhaust is extremely restricted in it’s design.

So we had a couple of people come into our Corona store on Railroad Street last week. They wanted to dyno their cars. We’ve had a Dynojet at our location for over a year now, and we said “sure”! Turns out the cars they wanted to test for horsepower were a little outside of what we normally test here at Brothers Performance. Usually we see Mustangs and Camaros. Some corvettes, even a Cadillac once. Well what these folks were driving were those cute little “Smart Car”s.

Um, ohhhh-kay. Sure.

A Beautiful 2004 Competition Orange Cobra Convertible drove into Brothers Performance parking lot the other day for a quick couple pulls on our Dynojet. The current owner had purchased the car just a couple weeks previous, and while it only had about 20,000 miles on it, he was curious as to how many horses he really had under the hood.

I gotta say, this car is in exceptionally nice condition for being more than five years old! Even considering the low mileage, it looks like this vehicle only saw the streets on it’s way to car shows and drive ins.

Steve Saleen’s SMS Supercars has released what are being called “computer illustrations” of the 2010 SMS 460 Mustang. “The only 2010 Mustang authorized to bear Saleen’s name” (parts of the old company that Steve Saleen started more than 20 years ago were sold off to MJ Holdings and they are trying to release a “saleen” mustang… Steve Saleen has filed a lawsuit to keep them from doing so). The real-deal sms 460 issupposed to be i nthe final stages of creation and testing. They are expecting to actually launch the spec’d out Mustang later this year (can anyone say “Sema” ?).

Here’s how the story circulating the internet goes…
Three nineteen year old boys talked someone into giving them the keys for a test drive of a brand new for 2010 Ford Mustang GT. This car comes stock from the dealership with more than 315 horsepower, and by the pictures included here, that’s about 314 horsepower more than these hooligans could handle. I’m not sure if the failure is more in the poor driving skills or in the dealership that handed over the keys to a brand new $35,000 muscle car without insisting that a salesman accompany them.

+21 HP after BBK Throttle Body
A Brothers Performance Customer came into the shop looking to add more HP to his 427R Mustang, the 427 has been tangled in with the Ford product line for many years, both as a car model and one of the most powerful and legendary engines in their line. It is only natural that Roush, has perhaps one of the best Ford engine builders in the states. So we, Brothers Performance added a BBK Throttle Body 05-09 4.6L 62mm, that added 21 HP and 12 lbs or Torque. (more…)
