Ford Mustang GT Burnout Attempt Ends With Clutch Fail

We all love to see a good smokey burnout, apparently the scene in the UK is a similar one but they need help and practice from us to show them how pull off a good burnout with style and finesse. Take a look at this poor attempt to “Light Em Up” at the conclusion of “Wheels Day 2013″ in Hampshire England where the owner of  a Black Ford Mustang GT was attempting to do a burn out. The results are catastrophic to say the least – this just proves what we always tell our customers get a good heavy duty performance clutch installed on your performance Ford Mustang GT from the get go, especially if you have modified your Mustang with power adders. One of our best bullet proof clutch systems is the Centerforce DYAD dual disc clutch system available for most Mustang applications, not cheap but it will last a lifetime and take a ton of abuse , the owner of the Mustang in this video would have saved himself a lot of embarrassment and a lot of cash if he had installed one on his car. Ya live and learn I guess.

Son Returns His Fathers Ford Mustang Mach 1 Back To Him After 24 Years

Fathers Day is fast approaching again and is actually June 16th 2013, so it is a little over a month away and it will be here before we know it. Rick Lookebill was a lucky Dad this year he was treated to an early fathers day gift from his son last week. Twenty four years ago Rick had to part ways with his first car, which was a 1972 Ford Mustang MACH 1. Over the years Rick had talked with his family of wanting to locate the car again and bring it back to Indiana again to the family home. His son and the rest of the family searched everywhere from the internet to auto trader magazines and even DMV records. They were really close a few years back in 1999 when they ran across it briefly in Clinton, Illinois, but their timing was off and it was sold before they got over to see it. Recently, however Rick had again shown a “spark” of interest in wanting to try and find the car again. His Son by way of the internet and some help from the previous owner in Chicago and local forums finally located it three weeks ago in Florida. However, all Rick knew was that his son had located it. His son knew the car should be returned to his Dad it belonged to no one but him and he deserved to have it back in his possession. So…he acted quickly and after some negotiation with the current owner managed to make a deal and bring the car back home to Indiana from Florida and put the keys back in the hands of his father once again where they belonged. Oddly enough…nothing has been done to the body of the vehicle since it left 24 years ago. Even the modifications Rick had made to the car (rear air shocks and pin striping) are all still the same! Rick had kept a spare key on his dresser all this time in the hopes of one day seeing his car again and now 24 years later that key still worked in the ignition!! Take a look at the family video its pretty special, this day, needless to say, was a GREAT day for Rick Lookebil and his family.

What are do you plan on doing for your father this year?

Just For Fun – What Is Really The Fastest Way Around A Corner In A Mustang

To Drift Or Not to Drift – That is the question here. Just For Fun Champion Drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. and American Iron Champion Chris Cobetto took to the track at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to test their Mustang RTR’s in a little Drift VS Grip experiment, this is purely for entertainment purposes in our opinion and we think Chris Cobetto’s American Iron car could have easily overtaken Vaughn Gittin jr’s car in many of the corners and gotten a good lead had the corners not been blocked by a sideways Mustang RTR! Enjoy and hope everyone has a good weekend !

A Two Wheel Lap Around Laguna Seca Race Track In A Fox Body Mustang

We have raced our Brothers Performance race car at Laguna Seca in Monterey California a few times with NASA racing in American Iron and absolutely love the track with its elevation changes, great corners and straight a ways. After seeing this video we now have a new perspective, take a look at how James “Ski” Smith drives around the race track – No your eyes are not deceiving you he is attempting to take a hot lap around the track on two wheels – a never before attempted feat that was nearly accomplished but due to mechanical issues the attempt had to be put on hold for another race day! See James flip his Fox bodied Mustang up into a 2 wheeled SKI and tries to complete a lap, It takes a tremendous amount of skill to drive a car on two wheels for any length of time and to make it more difficult…Jamey has never been around the race course before the stunt. Watch the video to see what it’s like from on-board perspective like no other on board view you have seen before as we drive along with him in an attempt to make one lap on two wheels in a 85 fox body Mustang. Shame he doesn’t make it to the cork screw, that would have been interesting – ah I just went and spoiled it for you didn’t I – well the video is fun to watch – enjoy.

The Heart and soul of any Mustang project is the engine and the camshaft dictates how your Mustangs engine will perform in terms of low end or high end torque or low end, high end horsepower. You can order a camshaft for your engine, where you can determine where you want the horsepower and torque to start and peak. You must ask yourself what RPM range do you want it to perform in and what will the primary purpose be for the car – racing / street strip. The other factors to determine the grind will be all the other components of your engine build – engines cubic capacity , heads being used along with flow numbers and valve sizes – super charged , nitrous or turbo etc etc. Comp cams also have a website where you can also put in your engine specs and get some recommendations – they also have dyno results, recommended components, and best of all live chat and email a tech features so you can be sure that you will get the best camshaft for your Mustang GT, Cobra, Mach 1, Bullit or GT500 Shelby.
