What a great day for a muscle car show – this last Saturday in Deland Florida Brothers Performance hosted their East coast spring car show and sales event and this time the weather was perfect! Things got underway around 10am but there were a lot of people who started arriving early to get a good parking spot and sign up for the dyno shoot out challenge  and exhaust sound off around 8am ! As soon as the Brothers crew had all the EZ ups set up, dyno room opened, parking spots reserved for our VIP guests, drink and snacks set up and free hat sign up locations organized – we checked with DJ Randy Anderson to make sure he had the power he needed to spin the decks and that our food vendors Twin Boar BBQ were ready to start serving delicious ribs – pulled pork & beef brisket sandwiches, all reports were good to go – so lets start the show !  By 11am nearly all the available parking on the concrete pad around the building was used up and cars were starting to park on the turn around circle and on the grass – we started to see some amazing cars from friends old and new – some car club members had cruised to the show in a convoy and we even saw that Mid Florida mustang club had a few cars join us earlier in the day,  it was great their members back supporting the show as they really bought their members out in force at our grand opening back in August of 2009 – which was an amazing huge event – so thanks again for stopping by, its been a while.  We also had a nice showing from a group of  members from the Daytona Mustang club – thanks for all your support and the great photos and video you have forwarded to us. We even had a solo member from the space coast mustang club – sorry didn’t get his name but we hope to see a larger presence from that club at the next show.  The day was starting to roll by and dyno challenge was well under way and our Dyno tuner/ engineer James from Tuning by James already was on his forth or fifth car on the dyno. We had some great raffle prizes from our manufacturers – we had gift certificates from Lloyds floor mats – AGR steering – ARP fasteners – Grant Steering wheels – stage 8 fasteners  and Product from Classic Design concepts , PRW, BBK Performance, JLT Performacne Cold air systems, Race ramps, Flowmaster Axle back exhaust , 2 x Moroso axle back exhaust kits and a Boss 302 Intake manifold and installation kit from Ford Racing as the grand prize plus many more !

The Lovely Wing house girls Marissa and Ann Laura were handling the free hat giveaway and selling refreshments in the showroom and the Brothers sales Staff were kept busy with a steady stream of customer sales and tech questions.  The day was passing by fast – Twin Boar BBQ were making alot of people happy with their great food including our pinstripper Dr D who we heard had to go back twice for his lunch it was so good. It was already 1pm time for the exhaust sound off – luckily DJ Randy had a wireless mic that actually worked  150 feet away from his equipment – and it was perfect except for when his equipment malfunctioned for a brief moment  decided to enter the sound off on  its own. All exhaust sound off contestants were called up in order and proceeded to back up to the line and when given the nod from our exhaust sound engineer Santana Lugo they let it rip ! – Decibels were noted on the sign up sheet from our meter that was placed in exactly the same place for all contestants.  (see the video) All participants sounded off and we sorted through the paper work to find the eventual winner of the $250 first prize

We still had a few more raffle prizes to give away and Randy had the job of pulling the last winning tickets around 3pm – we can say there were a lot of lucky & happy winners as the day’s events started to slowly wind down – it had been a good 95 degrees most of the day with nice breeze and occasional cloud cover to give us all a break from the direct sun and heat – we also had EZ ups for people to get shade when they needed it.  The Dyno Shootout was coming to an end and James spend time talking to owners on how they could improve the performance of their cars with a better tune.

We have raced our Brothers Performance race car at Laguna Seca in Monterey California a few times with NASA racing in American Iron and absolutely love the track with its elevation changes, great corners and straight a ways. After seeing this video we now have a new perspective, take a look at how James “Ski” Smith drives around the race track – No your eyes are not deceiving you he is attempting to take a hot lap around the track on two wheels – a never before attempted feat that was nearly accomplished but due to mechanical issues the attempt had to be put on hold for another race day! See James flip his Fox bodied Mustang up into a 2 wheeled SKI and tries to complete a lap, It takes a tremendous amount of skill to drive a car on two wheels for any length of time and to make it more difficult…Jamey has never been around the race course before the stunt. Watch the video to see what it’s like from on-board perspective like no other on board view you have seen before as we drive along with him in an attempt to make one lap on two wheels in a 85 fox body Mustang. Shame he doesn’t make it to the cork screw, that would have been interesting – ah I just went and spoiled it for you didn’t I – well the video is fun to watch – enjoy.

The Mustang Club of Paraná, is now nearly 11 year years old and to celebrate the history of the club they have decided to celebrate the event with their club members in a unique way!
In partnership with some great performance companies, they obtained sponsorship to help film and produce a video commemorating their clubs history, featuring almost all of their members, their cars and their passion for the Ford Mustang regardless of the year, color or model.

They got the inspiration to make this video from their friends at the Mustang Klub of Poland, and decided to address the subject in a professional way by creating this great video “MUSTANG PASSION BRASIL.”

This video was filmed over a period of three months in various locations of Curitiba and the coastal area located in southern part of Brazil. The result you will see has been achieved with much sweat, dedication and above all the Brazilian PASSION for the Ford Mustang.  This video was made  with local members cars, and as you can see features almost all the Mustang models from 1964 through 2012 – this was a task to achieve to collectively get everyone together to make this happen.  These guys are passionate about their Mustangs just like we all are –  we think that their passion really comes across in this video – great editing, great music , great footage and above all great cars, it has great style – leave a comment about your favorite part or scene.

Tune Up Your Mustang - A Great way to save money and maximize your MPG

Given the price of gas these days we think its time to give your Mustang some attention this weekend and make sure that you are getting the best MPG possible– you will be surprised what peace of mind it will give you to know that your car is in tip top shape, and giving you the best mileage possible, it will also give you a good idea of what will be your next repair and replacement project if any. Here is our check list on how to give your car a good going over in your garage or driveway if the weather is good.

• Check The Following Fluid Levels:
• Brake Fluid
• Coolant Level – radiator and expansion tank – also check all hoses for any problems
• Engine Oil
• Power Steering Fluid
• Transmission Oil/ATF
• Windshield Washer – Check the Wiper Blades while you are at it.
• Battery Check:  It’s also a good time to check and clean your battery – refill with distilled water if necessary and clean the battery terminals and connections with a wire brush and then re assemble.
• Check all serpentine belts for wear and cracking – spray with a good belt conditioner for a longer life.
• Check front accessory pulleys for any amount of play – especially the water pump
• Check Clutch Cable Adjustment.
• Air Filter – Check – Clean & replace if necessary
• Engine Oil & Filter Change – Replace with a GOOD Synthetic Oil For better mileage and longer change intervals – also reduced friction for better mileage – Worth Every penny
• If it has been more than 45,000 miles change Spark Plugs & Plug wires – better spark better combustion – more efficient burn of all fuel better gas mileage
• Check All Spark Plug Wires Or Coil On Plugs for cracks or arcing of spark – do this at night or in a dark garage and you can often see the spark arcing – Replace Ignition Wires, distributor cap and rotor or coil packs with a good quality brand name product like Accel, MSD or Ford Racing, Look at upgrading Ignition system – call us for ideas.
• Check and replace any and ALL cracked or rotting vacuum lines – you can make your own – buy windshield washer hose at any auto parts store – remove bad line cut new one to length and replace. Preventive maintenance is a good thing – stay ahead of the game.
• How about a Radiator or Transmission Flush – if you are not up to it and dealing with disposing of the old fluids – take a trip to the local lube center and have them do it all for you while you watch your favorite team on TV and enjoy a refreshment.
• Same goes for Brake fluid, power steering fluid and rear differential gear oil.
• Inspect Fuel System including fuel feed and return lines for cracks. Make sure that the connections between the fuel lines and the inline fuel filter are tight. You can also place the car and jack stands and inspect the gas tank and filler neck for punctures, cracks, and other damage. The connection between the filler neck and the tank is particularly critical. Inspect all tank mounting brackets and straps to be sure the tank is securely attached to the vehicle.
• If it has been over 2 years replace your inline fuel filter.
• You also might like to purchase a Fuel System Cleaner. We recommend Redline Fuel System Cleaner.
• Finally – rotate the tires and check all air pressure are correct – This is a good time to also check all of the components that are revealed with the wheels off – check brake pads, brake rotors and brake lines for wear and replace if necessary.
• Also check all shock absorbers and suspension struts for any leaks, this goes for Power steering rack – pump, tie rod ends and any suspension bushings that appear worn – take a flash light and look over everything check bolts are all tight.

Look out for this great looking “gotta have it green” 2013 Mustang GT at this years SEMA show in November at the Las Vegas convention center. These photos show the beginning of the new 2013 Ford Racing project. We are talking about a 2013 Mustang GT that will receive a ton of tech goodies inside and out as well as many exterior modifications for sure. Under the hood, the Coyote 5.0L Ford V8 engine, will receive the Ford Racing 2.3-liter, twin-screw Whipple supercharger and intercooler and many more upgrades as well exhaust and tuning modifications. Ford Racing doesn’t mention the output of the unit, but its “general” specs show that it offers 624 hp and 536 lb-ft (726 Nm) of torque. Further down the power train, we will find a six-speed manual transmission and an 8.8-inch rear axle. The connection to the road is provided by FRPP springs and shocks that brings the car 1 inch closer to the road, as well as a set of 19-inch “Black Track Pack” wheels that use Pirelli P Zero rubber. The Mustang comes with a Laguna Seca Adjustable Front Splitter and is dressed in Gotta Have It Green, a color that certainly draws attention. Here is a complete list of the modifications

We are very excited to watch the next custom transformation at West Coast Customs in Corona CA – See what happens Sunday night when they take a 67 Mustang GT fastback and put it on a 2012 Mustang GT chassis and add Microsoft technology along the way just for good measure. Microsoft says that the goal of the project is to inspire developers to think about building apps and automotive technology for the future. The car will be big on connected services and will incorporate Kindle for Xbox 360, the Xbox 360 itself, Windows 8, Windows Azure, Ford Sync, and can naturally be control using Windows Phone. The project build will be chronicled on Discovery Channel’s Velocity Network on the program Inside West Coast Customs this Sunday, March 25 at 6 PM Pacific.

St. Petersburg, Fla. — SCCA’s World Challenge begins its 2012 campaign in St. Petersburg, FL. The race will see seven Ford Mustangs take the green Flag, racing through the “concrete canyons” of the Florida street circuit. 2011 was a banner year for Ford in the series, winning the manufacturer’s title in the GTS class and Mustang Boss 302S drivers taking the top-two spots in the driver’s championship.
Last year’s champion, Paul Brown, returns in his Tiger Racing Mustang Boss 302S and has his sights on defending his championship; however that task will be made more difficult as Brown will miss the season’s first two rounds while he recovers from minor surgery. His car, however, will be on the grid with former 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Justin Bell driving in his place. Tiger Racing is also proud to announce a new sponsorship deal, which will see eBay Motors join the team for the 2012 season.
“I know people will be a bit surprised to see someone else behind the wheel of the #50 Boss car, but while I’m recovering from some minor, albeit unexpected, surgery, I couldn’t ask for a better substitute driver,” said Brown. “Justin grew up around racing, the same that I did, and brings knowledge and experience from both on and off the track.”
When asked about this opportunity, Justin Bell replied, “It is not often you get asked to step into a champion’s shoes for a few races, so I jumped at the chance to help eBay Motors, Tiger Racing and Paul Brown out on short notice. I am excited to get into the Mustang on these road courses as I love sprint racing, and judging from the team’s performance last year, I should have one of the best-prepared cars on the grid. Now it is just down to me!”
Brown added, “The team is fired up to defend our 2011 Championships, and Justin is part of our plan for the year.”
After a successful 2011 Pirelli World Challenge Season, finishing second in the GTS championship, Capaldi Racing is returning for the 2012 World Challenge season with an all-new car and team. GSP Racing and Capaldi Racing have teamed up with driver Alfonso Perri, Total Performance Engine Oil, and Dell’s Cherries to campaign the #26 Total/Dell’s Cherries 2013 Mustang Boss 302S in the GTS class.

“I can’t wait for the season to start,” said Perri. “Our test was the first time I drove the Boss, and I had a blast. I can’t thank Gino Lucci (President of GSP Racing) enough for the opportunity to race in the World Challenge this year. I’d also like to thank Total, Dell’s Cherries, Picture Cars Inc., GearUp Safety Equipment, Eurokart Racing, and GSP Racing for all their support. I’m really looking forward to working with Capaldi Racing. They are a great group of people who have had a lot of success in World Challenge. I’m going to do my best to give everyone a great year!”

“It’s great to be back in World Challenge this year,” said Leo Capaldi, team principal. “We had a lot of success in the older Mustang FR500S last year, so I can’t wait to see how things go with the all-new Boss 302S. Gino and Alfonso are fitting right in with the team, so we are going to have a great year. Like last year, we are going to be racing to build awareness for a great charity – the Carroll Shelby Foundation – and it’s an honor to help out.”

Finally, Rehagen Racing has teamed up with Roger Miller to field yet another Mustang Boss 302S in the SCCA World-Challenge with a limited schedule for the year.
Team principal Roger Miller will drive the No. 23 Ford Mustang Boss 302S, sponsored by the Larry H. Miller Dealerships along with Miller Motorsports Park and the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School, in the GTS class. The car will be prepared, maintained and crewed by Rehagen Racing of Livonia, Mich., which specializes in fielding Mustangs in various racing series.
Miller Racing will contest nine races at six events during the course of the 2012 season. After the opener in St. Petersburg, which consists of two races, the team will compete on the streets of Long Beach, Calif., April 13-15; Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, April 28-29 (with guest driver Dan McKeever, as Miller will have a scheduling conflict); on Detroit’s Belle Isle, June 2-3 (two races); Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, August 3-5 (two races); and Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., August 25-26.
“I’m so excited to be racing in the SCCA Pro Racing Pirelli World Challenge Championship,” Miller said. “It’s a series with a lot of history, and the competition is as intense as any series in the world. Starting off with street races in St. Petersburg and Long Beach will be challenging, but with the help of Rehagen Racing, I think we’ll be very well prepared. We appreciate the support of the Larry H. Miller Dealerships, Miller Motorsports Park and the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School, and can’t wait to get the season started.”

The race will be streamed live online this Saturday at 5:45pm EST, and you can follow your favorite mustangs with World-Challenge’s Live Timing & Scoring. The race will also be broadcast on TV on April 8th at 4:30pm EST on the NBC Sports Network.
