Second winner in the Mustang “the 10 unleashed” contest drag races teacher on Speed’s “Pinks All Out” TV show
Wednesday, June 24th, 2009The second winner of six possible winners in Ford’s “the ‘10 unleashed” dream Mustang contest was revealed to be a fresh faced, fresh-out-of-high-school, young man from Orlando, Florida area. Derrik Murrell recently graduated from Lake Mary high School north of Orlando where he had dreams of racing his auto shop teach for “pinks”.
Like every high school gear head’s dream, Murrell hoped that Ford would help him out. The difference being that Murrell actually filled out the contest entry at Ford’s website and Ford chose his dream to become a reality. Of course, just being given the chance to slide behind the wheel doesn’t mean that you’re going to win the race! Ford sent a couple of stock 2010 Mustang GT’s to Livernois Motorsports in Detroit for special outfitting. Livernois basically turned both of the Stock GT’s into Ford’s CobraJet drag racers with parts from Ford Racing including stuffing a crate 5..4 Liter “aluminator” aluminum engine, in full race trim, into the front of both ponys. You may recall (or you may not have heard if you didn’t read our previous blog) that Ford has not yet released (or even made!) the 2010 Mustang Cobrajet yet. So you are left to “build it yourself”.
