Got a lot of reading for you today. It boils down to this: Ford is releasing specs on the new 2011 Mustang with the all new variable-cam 3.7 liter 24 valve V6 DOHC (dual overhead cam) Duratec engine. This power plant will give the Mustang 30MPG highway mileage yet supplies 305 horsepower with it’s six speed transmission. It’s sure to be big news for those “Mustang Vs. Camaro” fans because it will be more competitive with the Chevy’s 300HP V6 power plant. (more…)

Ford confirms venerable 4.0L V6 dropped from 2011 Mustang

…and that, as it turns out, is a very good thing!

Looks like we won’t have the old SOHC 4.0 Liter V6 to kick around any more. Ford is confirming that the 4.0 Liter will (finally!) be replaced with a higher-reving, higher-horsepower, Duratec 3.7 liter 24-valve, DOHC, all aluminum powerplant starting with the 2011 Mustang models. No further details have been released on the new engine yet, but a a similar Duratec engine has been in use in the flagship Lincoln MKS for a couple of years now. (more…)
