Ford Mustang Is Going To Get An Ecoboost – Ford Confirms to Auto Week At Auto Show

The All New Designed Mustang is Coming in 2015 and as we have been suspecting for months Ford is preparing to introduce a four-cylinder engine to the Mustang, “A What?” we hear you say – Yuuurrp a four banger – but a very special one – an Eco-Boost ! The Ford Mustang is set to get a factory turbo on a four cylinder for the first time since 1984 when we saw the Mustang SVO released by Ford.
This information is not new as we said but it was all hearsay – until now we’ve only had unofficial reports but Ford product chief Derrick Kuzak confirmed this in an interview for Autoweek during the Detroit Auto Show yesterday, We think this is a great idea as it may bring back the SVO badge to the Mustang, some people may disagree, saying that the Mustang had had its fair share of poor engines over the years and that the new one has kept the standards high, but this Ecoboost technology is here to stay for sure in light of new CAFE rules, and high gas prices. EcoBoost technology includes turbocharging, variable valve timing and should have performance similar to that of 2011 V6 Mustang. The most likely candidate for the new Ford Mustang Ecoboost is the 2.0-liter that will be found under the hood of the 2012 Ford Focus ST, which means that the ‘Stang is set to receive 250 hp. Or how about a stroker 2.3L like the former SVO – This car will handle seriously well and should get good track time – what do you think?

2013 Boss 302 Ford Mustang Green Debuts At The 2012 Detroit Auto Show Today

What do you think ?  Gotta Have it or Gotta Go ? or What in the heck are Ford thinking ? Does anyone know the reason for this green – where is the inspiration drawn from ?

Well we have seen the blurry watermarked spy shots from a few weeks ago of the new 2013 Boss 302 in the “gotta have it green” – well today at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Ford decided to reveal to all and finally took the cover off.  This is the first official reveal of the new color for the new ford Boss 302 Mustang, leaving the final color to be revealed by Ford for the 2013 lineup to be Deep impact blue which will replace Kona blue.

While the new grabber green  color it may not be everyones cup of tea – we think that it will look better in person and easy to spot on the race track oh and another thing  for sure the cops wont miss you if you are speeding anywhere and the Camaro’s wont miss you when you blow their doors off at the track ! Our advise to all owners of this Ford Boss 302 get a radar detector and save yourself some money and court time!

This Is Why The New 2011 Ford Mustang V6 Has A Speed Limiter Of 112mph

If you’re shopping for a track-day 2011-12 Ford Mustang V6 or think of renting one on a budget, you may be tempted to consider the 305 horsepower 2011-12 Mustang V-6 as a legitimate alternative to the Mustang GT. The V6 is lighter up front and will also handle better with less understeer. Lower cost aside, the new V-6 is almost as powerful as the previous generation’s 4.6-liter V-8, it gets stellar fuel economy and it’s cheaper to insure. Sure, it’s limited to a top speed of 112 miles per hour, but (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) there are ways around that like in performance tune or custom tuning on a dyno. This video we found on you tube shows the potential consequences of exceeding a manufacturer’s design specification. In the case of the Mustang V-6, the car is limited to 112 mph since its lightweight drive shaft is designed more for fuel economy than outright performance. not to mention the tires on the car are probably not ZR rated. Remove the electronic governor, and the V-6 Mustang will wind out past 135 miles per hour. Until the drive shaft explodes, that is, sending shrapnel up through the transmission tunnel and into the passenger compartment.
The driver of the Mustang in the video is lucky to be alive and uninjured, especially after ignoring the signs of impending driveline failure. That noise you hear at about 0:34 in? Like the vibration that was surely coming through the floorboard, that’s bad, and not something you should ignore.
We also don’t condone top speed testing on a public road, even a lightly-traveled one. Likewise, when driving at north of 120 miles per hour, we tend to keep both hands on the wheel, instead of one on a camera filming the speedometer. As the video illustrates, driving is deceptively easy, until something goes wrong. According to the original video we saw which has since been removed from your and was posted by the owner/driver of the car – he had severe damage to the floor pan – center console – drive train – gear box – shifter and exhaust system that was crushed by the out of control rotating driveshaft. moral of the story – upgrade the driveshaft and tires if you remove the speed limiter

NMRA Adds Coyote Class For The 2012 Season

ProMedia, parent company of the NMRA Ford Nationals all-Ford series, has announced a new heads-up drag racing class for the 2012 NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals season. Strange Engineering Coyote Stock Presented by 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine will be a spec-engine class, utilizing a sealed version of Ford’s newest powerplant, the 5.0-liter DOHC “Coyote” motor (carrying the unique part number M-6007-M50S) and utilize a spec, sealed processor (CM-12A650-A5LA).

The class will be open to all Ford vehicles, 1954 model-year and newer, and each competitor will be required to weigh-in at the same 3200 pounds. Competitors will compete on a true 10.5-inch tire and have a choice of a wide variety of Ford OE and TREMEC manual transmissions utilizing a single-disc diaphragm clutch, or can use the venerable C4 automatic transmission.

Coyote Stock was formed to provide an affordable way for both rookie and veteran drivers to be competitive in a heads-up class without having to undertake an involved, expensive engine program.

“Coyote Stock is a great way to return race cars to the track with an affordable engine package. It speaks to the original spirit of NMRA racing,” said Jesse Kershaw, Drag Racing and Competition Manager at Ford Racing. “The Coyote engine is about half the cost of a competitive Factory Stock engine and about one third the price of a Pure Street engine. It also requires far less maintenance.”
