Brothers Performance coverage of SEMA 2009 - OUTSIDE

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

So SEMA is well under way, and boy are the cars HOT and the news FLYING!!! New Parts, New Customizations, News every hour (it feels like, anyway!). Part one of our SEMA coverage from Las Vegas is going to be cars on the OUTSIDE… If you’re familiar with the Specialty Equipment Market Association convention in Las Vegas at all, you’ve heard that the show on the OUTSIDE is almost as hot as the show on the INSIDE (no desert heat pun intended… it’s November and every day is a balmy and breezy 85 degrees).

So here are the pictures, every one is click-able for larger images…

Ford customizes 2010 Mustang into the AV-X10 “Dearborn Doll” for EAA Experimental Airplane Association

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

I see that Ford has built another custom Mustang for the Experimental Aircraft Association’s “Gathering of Eagles” fundraiser. The Aviation themed Mustang has been named the AV-X10 or “Dearborn Doll”. Patterned after the stylings and trim from the quintessential American World War II Fighter Mustang fighter planes (see picture), The 2010 AV-X10 Mustang will be auctioned off during the 2009 EAA Air Venture Oshkosh fly-in convention which takes place July 27-August 2 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Shelby limits 2010 Mustang GT500 production run to 2,000 units

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

We all know that the 2010 Ford Mustang GT500 is one of the hottest American made cars on the market. The 2010 has 0-60mph times down to 4.3 seconds, The new design, stiffer springs, larger tires and other damping actually makes this model year less dangerous when going anywhere but in a straight line. Side that along with other tweaks and that shoots the 540 horsepower automobile into the American supercar stratosphere.

Now it just got a lot harder to find.

This reportedly from Shelby’s ordering information for dealers:

Production cut on Shelby GT500. To date, 1,700 GT500s have not been scheduled and the plant only had the capacity to build 2,000 for the 2010 MY (model year). If you signed the agreement, you are guaranteed 1 Shelby GT500 for the model year.

So Shelby is only planning on creating 2,000 GT500s this year. This is sure to make the 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 the most collectible in quite some time. You can also expect that if you have not ordered one by now, either you’ll have trouble finding a dealership who can get one, and if you DO you’ll be paying a much heftier price than just last week.

of course there’s always the Shelby Super Snake…

hee-hee, well played, Mr. Shelby!

***update July 10,2009***

As of this writing, Ford is categorically denying any limitations on the production run of the GT500, and they do not release production numbers. The document that has been quoted came from Team Shelby, so it will be interesting to see where production units actually fall (estimated of course, since there are no confirmed nummbers released) for the  2010 model year. If it is more than 2,000 though, it should be abundantly evident because past years far surpassed the 2000 mark.

2010 Roush Mustang released from it’s corral, and reportedly it’s a WILD ride!

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

A couple of quick items today, both on the new, highly anticipated 2010 Roush 427r Ford Mustangand not all of it good news… for Roush.

Motortrend got to spend some road time, and more importantly, track time with the new Roush Mustang 427R and buddy, they were sure impressed. Over at their site there are some great shots of the red beast, and even some desktop wallpapers (one of which is currently being used on my own computer). Be sure to watch the video to see this 435HP car that they dubbed “rudeboy” in action around the track. 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and 100 MPH in 11 seconds is nothing to be sneazed at, for sure (the bad news being, and Motortrend points this out, that the Shelby GT500 is faster, better handling, and as tested, less expensive in  price)!

Then, to continue the marketing hype…
Jack Roush allowed filming to go on during the 14 months that the 2010 Roush 427R Mustang was being developed until it’s unveiling a couple of weeks ago.
